On the Pu'u Huluhulu cinder cone, a lone Koa tree overlooks the volcanic lava fields. The native tree sanctuary sits at the foothills between Moana Kea and Moana Loa. At the time, we thought we were hiking surrounded by intermittent mist, but at around 6,500 feet in elevation it's more accurate to say we were in the clouds.
